Career Coach & Mentor

As a Career Coach at Transitions HUB, I help my clients restart their careers in the UK. Though my job title is career coaching, my coaching is an amalgamation of three key ingredients; clarity, career and resilience coaching. Personal transformation coaching lays down a solid foundation for this work. Mentoring and advising help my clients to quickly take next practical steps while they work through the deeper 'stuff' coaching brings forth.

Who do I work with?

With highly skilled professionals who have sought refuge in the UK. E.g. Engineers, doctors, business owners, lawyers, government diplomats.

With people who have ambition and drive: Some of my clients have not had an opportunity to pursue professional careers before, simply because they were too busy fighting for their lives or supporting their families in a war zone. However, our past needn’t define our present or the future. After finding safety in their new homes and through coaching, they are pursuing professional careers.

As the actor Lupita Nyong’o said, ‘No matter where you’re from, your dreams are valid’. As their career coach, my job is to make sure they can see opportunities they didn’t know existed and are able to pursue them, despite their fears.

So far, I have worked with people from more than 70 countries. Imagine the complexity of cultures, languages, differences in employment markets, mindsets, individual goals and challenges involved. Imagine bringing them to a point where they can compete with local talent successfully and rebuild their careers and lives. Exactly why all my coaching is holistic, Trauma Informed and person centric.

I am passionate about this work because it enables me to make a real difference to the lives of people I support. As a coach working with refugees and asylum seekers, I know many factors are outside my control (read Home Office decisions, government policies, and socio-political landscape in the world). I also know I cannot change the whole world. However, I do know I can change one person’s entire world. That would do.

As a little girl growing up in what felt like an unjust world, I recall my yearning for a more compassionate, inclusive and fair world. Now, I get to do my bit to co-create that world every day with my colleagues.

I have 20 years of work experience; 10 years in Talent Management and Learning & Development with medium to large size organisations, and 10 years as a full-time coach.

Outside work, I enjoy cooking, travelling, writing books and poetry.
